It’s a chapel, apparently. Or was. You wouldn’t know unless someone told you. Bit of a walk to get to it. Uphill, naturally.

People stand around it now like it’s a landmark, though for what, no one’s quite sure. It isn’t open, and even if it were, it’s not the sort of place you go in so much as walk past and nod politely at.

Mary said the view was worth it. I suppose it is, if you like staring at a lot of sea and imagining what you’ve forgotten to defrost for tea.

There’s a bench nearby. Not that I sat. Felt a bit showy, sitting there, like you’d given up early. So I wandered around the back instead and looked at some lichen. Nobody talks about the lichen.
