The Shed - Locking The Style
The Shed
—Well, this is the shed then, is it?
—It is Arthur, do you like it?
—Happen it’s aw reet. But bloody draughty though. And I ain’t a nesh bugger.
—I’ll put the heater on.
—Aye, that’ll be reet.
—It could be that you’re getting old—
—Happen I’ll give ya a clout.I ain’t too old fer that.
—Just joking, Arthur.
—Aye, anyway, what the bugger is goin’ on here then, like?
—How do you mean?
—Andy, lad, I’m old but I ain’t blind. You’ve changed yer blog again.
—Well, no, the content, not the platform.
—Aye, the platform don’t bother readers do it? The content does.
—Yep, true.
—So, what’s the crack, like?
—Er, well, I wanted to unify what stuff I write for my blog. Since I’ve got a Substack as well.
—Yeah?
—So I thought me and you chatting about writing, coming up with ideas and life in general seemed like a good idea.
—Nobody wants to read the shite we talk about.
—Ah, you see, I think they will. When we discuss stuff that is useful about writing, blogging, all that.
—And are we going to do it in here? This bloody cold shed?
—I thought we could—
—I see there’s a kettle.
—Yes mate, all the mod cons.
—Get the bugger on then.
—I will.
—What d’yer want to talk about first?
—Making blog content easy so you’ll keep doing it.
—Wha’?
—Yeah, I write a lot, you know that. I have my Substack to push my indie author stuff. And I write novels. There ain’t a lot of time for other stuff. So I need to use—
—Fuck me, yer do go on a bit, like!
—As I was trying to explain—
—Aye, happen yer were. But making a a proper bloody hash of it.
—How would you—
—Easy. When yer have a blog, you need it to be low friction so writing new content is fun. That way, you’ll keep doing it. AND…
—Go on?
—Readers will know what to expect.
—Ah.
—See?
—I do. I reckon that last point? That’s the one.
—Aye. Course it is. Reet, where’s that chuffin’ tea?
