Writing Like Graffiti

Writerings

I decided to write some stuff here like it’s a wall that needs some graffiti.

Don’t know why. S’pose because I’ve always seen the web as a wall for writing on. Not in a ‘poker up your arse’ pompous way. More in a: ‘say what the hell you like’ way.

So, I looked around the web like a prospecting pirate. Looking for somewhere to stash my barrels of rum arghhh, Jim Lad!

I tried everywhere. And I do mean everywhere. Even that Wordpress place, the Ghost place, Substack and Medium. I’m like a blogging nomad. You know, sometimes I wonder if my socks secretly plot against me when I put them in the washing machine.

And those platforms. They have their good points, like mountains. They have lots of good points. Sharp ones, curved ones, steep ones... The mountains I mean. And the platforms? Not bad. They do what they say on the tin…

I reckon a blog in a tin should exist. Imagine that? Take your blog wherever you go. I need to write a new post… Pop the lid off, write away. Perfect.

Anyway…
Those platforms.
Yeah…

I couldn’t settle. I’d write and write and right. Publish and pub dishes. All good. But then, I’d feel like something wasn’t striking the typewriter as a muse, tea-fuelled and inspired. So, I’d give up and move on. My inner blogger yelling “NEXT!”

Aha!
I’m a wise old blogger.

I built my own blog. You see? Up there for thinking, down there for drinking tea.  Off I went, blogging like a blogging blogger.  Using Git, Astro and lots of other clever web developer stuff.

It was great.
But then…
A twitch.

This is a faff. This is making my brain ache. Feels like work and effort to get one post up. I started to look.

My inner muse (the judgemental git) polished his monocle and frowned.

“Get somewhere you are free to get on and write.”

Seemed like fair advice. So, I look for a wall. A wall that wouldn’t mind my spray can, graffiti painting approach. And I ended up here.

The Scribbles wall said:
“Spray away, mate. We like people being free to write what they like around ‘ere!”

Well, sounds good to me.
Welcome to my bit of graffiti on the web.

The point here is, choose whatever platform you want, obviously. Although not railway station platforms.

But make sure you feel free. And not hindered by widgets, what-nots, and whatevers. That way, your writing will be more like how you intended.

Now, I must run, a Magpie is in dispute with my garden gnome again.
