The Blog

Warm it is, not as sweltering as it has been, but proper warm. I’m here, writing away because I’ve made a new version of my blog. I told Mary, my wife.

—I’ve got a new version of the blog, love.

—What for? Your other one worked fine.

—I know, I wanted to try something different.

—You need to settle. You are always doing that.

—I know, this is it, though. Last time.

—Yeah?

—Yep.

—We’ll see. Make a brew will you?

She’s right to be skeptical. I do this all the bloody time. Switch from one blog to another. Build one. Then another one. Scrap the last one, go again. Does my head in. And it’s me doing it.

So why?

Ah. Tricky that. Well, it’s not. It’s easy. I have a fractious mind. Don’t want to dwell on that. But PTSD is a bugger. It makes me certain, then, a day later, uncertain. All change. Fuck, here we go again.

So, the trick is to boss it. He says. Having never managed to boss it. But, it’s called reframing the problem. Something like that. I got taught how to do it a while back. It goes like this.

First, time for honesty. Total honesty. No bullshit. What’s the problem with what I’m doing? The actual problem?

The answer is weak. In the end. When I push hard for it. Something lame like: I want to try something new in case what I’m doing is shit.

That’s not a reason to throw away everything I’ve worked on. It’s NOT. Even if it fells like it is. Reframe it. What if I worked on the content? Made it better? Or wrote something new and sod the consequences?

The point is: step away from the blog building tools. And get on with this one. I’ve got a blog because I love to write. Why piss about making new blogs all the time? Instead of writing?

I let that one float about in my head for a while.

And it works. Sometimes, I use reverse thinking. If I wanted a shitty blog, what kind of things would I have to be doing?

Then, I avoid doing any of those.

Simple, right?

Anyway, welcome to the new version. The only thing I can guarantee is: it won’t change.

There will be new content. And lots of it.

Cool, right, I’m done. See you in the next one.
